Governor proposes higher taxes in annual address
Gov. Jerry Brown has given Californians a choice between higher taxes and deeper cuts in public services like education.
Brown outlined his plan in an annual legislative address on Wednesday, saying a hike in taxes would be an investment in the future of California. Republicans, by way of Assembly GOP leader Connie Conway and Senate leader Bob Huff, said the focus should be more on pension reform for state employees rather than an increase in taxes.
KCAL 9/CBS 2’s Kent Shocknek reports on the details of Brown’s proposal.
