Traffic levels down at UCLA
Traffic may be a nightmare on the Westside with the big freeway widening project further snarling an already-bad traffic knot. But don’t blame UCLA. The school says traffic levels on its campus and in its parking garages are at the lowest levels since measurements were first taken in 1990.
The number of vehicles entering and leaving the Westwood campus has been dropping every year for nearly a decade. UCLA says almost half of its employees take the bus, vanpool or use bicycles to get to work. And the school pays half the cost for all transit passes for students and employees.
