Arboretum lighting improvements
(CNS) – The Board of Supervisors agreed today to spend $500,000 to fix up the parking lot at the Los Angeles County Arboretum in Arcadia.
Solar-powered LED lighting will be mounted on about 20 poles in the parking lot off Baldwin Avenue, and the lot will be patched and resurfaced, according to county officials. The work is scheduled to start Aug. 15 and be completed by Nov. 30.
Maintenance costs should drop significantly, because light-emitting diodes use about 30 percent less electricity and last five times longer than the incandescent lighting now used, according to Supervisor Michael Antonovich.
