(CNS) – Five guitars stolen from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were recovered, police said today, as the band gears up for a tour that starts tomorrow.
Among the guitars reported stolen on Thursday from The Culver Studios was one of Petty’s vintage, 12-string Rickenbackers, which helped the band produce its signature sound.
Culver City police confirmed that an arrest was made, but no other information was made available pending a 3 p.m. news conference scheduled for police to discuss the case.
Among the other instruments recovered was a Mike Campbell model Dusenberg created for Heartbreakers guitar player Mike Campbell for the band’s 30th anniversary.
Petty offered a $7,500 reward for the return of the guitars, but it was unclear if anyone would be collecting the money.
