Good news, bad news for So Cal in 'State of the Air'
(CNS) – The American Lung Association today released its annual State of the Air report, which lists both the cleanest and the most polluted areas in the country. The report has both bad news and good news for the Golden State. It says that California still has some of the worst air in the nation. But progress in reducing smog and particulate pollution has made the state’s air the cleanest it’s been since the Lung Association’s annual reports began 13 years ago.
Still, if there’s a top 10 list of air quality horrors, you can be sure the lion’s share of cities on it will be in California and that the list will include L.A. According to the Lung Association, the L.A./Long Beach/Riverside area is still No. 1 in the nation for smog, No. 4 for short-term particle pollution, and No. 3 for annual particle pollution.
