More LA traffic woes ahead during freeway ramp work
(AP) – Drivers on the west side of Los Angeles are in for a slow summer as ramps connecting one of the nation’s biggest boulevards with one of its busiest freeways are demolished and rebuilt.
State and county transportation officials said at a news conference Friday that eight ramps connecting Wilshire Boulevard with Interstate 405 will be closed in phases ranging from two weeks to 90 days.
The work begins June 22 with a three-month shutdown of two ramps connecting westbound Wilshire and northbound I-405.
The closures are part of the same $1 billion upgrade that brought last summer’s “Carmageddon,” in which the entire 405 through Sepulveda Pass was closed for days.
