Marie Montgomery, spokesperson for The Auto Club of Southern California, says that a record number of drivers are expected to hit the road for the Independence Day holiday this year, encouraged by cheaper gasoline.

She shares a number of interesting details about traveling this summer with KFWB’s Maggie McKay and Michael Shappee:

The forecast, based on a survey of 50,000 U.S. households, said travelers are likely to take more days off to travel this year since Independence day will fall on a Wednesday.
