Laguna Beach search
(CNS) – Search crews were scouring the ocean off Laguna Beach today for a Dana Point-based sailor whose unmanned boat washed ashore overnight. The U.S. Coast Guard was notified about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday when Andrew Szaz never made it back to harbor in his 28-foot sailboat Babe, according to maritime authorities. Orange County Sheriff’s Deputies were aiding in the search.
Szaz’s boat, a racing sloop named Babe, washed up on main beach in Laguna about 2:30 a.m., authorities said. Jim Amormino of the sheriff’s department said investigators were examining navigational gear on the boat, such as the GPS, to see if they could retrace the boat’s path.
