(CNS) – Malibu will offer residents six opportunities per year to properly dispose of certain types of household hazardous materials and electronic waste, starting with an event Aug. 18.
The city’s monthly Oil and Paint Roundup will be combined with the quarterly Electronic Waste collection event, and the expanded collection will be held on a bi-monthly basis at City Hall on the third Saturday of even- numbered months, according to the city.
City officials said the consolidated schedule will decrease carbon dioxide emissions by about 50 percent annually.
Residents can take advantage of the events to dispose of items such as motor oil, oil filters, anti-freeze, automotive batteries, latex paint, electronics, compact fluorescent light bulbs and household batteries.
Each person can bring a maximum of 15 gallons or 125 pounds per trip.
