(CNS) – Police today stepped up patrols around L.A.’s four Sikh temples in the aftermath of Sunday’s slayings at a Sikh temple in suburban Milwaukee, where six people and the gunman were killed. Three other people were critically wounded in the shooting at 8:25 a.m. Pacific time in Oak Creek, a suburb south of Milwaukee. One police officer was wounded in a shootout with the gunman.
After receiving word of the shooting in Oak Creek, the Los Angeles Police Department stepped up patrols around the city’s Sikh temples, said Officer Norma Eisenman, an LAPD spokeswoman. On Sunday, the LAPD had reported that patrols were not stepped up around the city’s four temples, but that report was not correct, Eisenman said.
In the Greater Los Angeles area, there are Sikh temples in Alhambra and Buena Park, and, in the city of Los Angeles, in Canoga Park, Hollywood, the South Robertson area and North Hollywood.
