LOS ANGELES (AP) – Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky says he won’t run for mayor of Los Angeles next year and he won’t seek re-election.

In a blog entry Thursday, Yaroslavsky says the nearly four decades he’s spent in city and county government is long enough for any citizen to hold elective office.

He says it’s time for a new generation of leaders to emerge.

The 63-year-old supervisor says he’ll finish out his term in 2014 and then move on to things outside of politics.
