Gopher-bomb user sparked 500-acre SoCal wildfire
WINCHESTER, Calif. (AP) – Authorities say someone using a gopher-killing gas bomb sparked this week’s 500-acre wildfire in Riverside County. No homes were damaged but two firefighters were injured by Monday’s fire in Winchester, about 30 miles southeast of Riverside.
State fire officials tell the Riverside Press-Enterprise that a person using a gas device caused the fire. The device is a poison gas bomb that is lit by a fuse.
