AUSTIN, Texas (AP) – One of Lance Armstrong’s sponsors is standing by him, even though he has stopped fighting the drug case brought against him by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency. Armstrong could soon lose his seven Tour de France titles.
The head of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency says Armstrong could be stripped of his Tour de France titles as soon as today. But the International Cycling Union says, not so fast. It wants the U.S. agency to explain why Armstrong should lose his titles.
The international group has supported Armstrong in his legal challenge to the authority of USADA. It’s a challenge that Armstrong abandoned yesterday, saying he is tired of defending himself.
