NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CNS) – Doctors worked today to save a man struck by a Metro Red Line train at the North Hollywood station. The accident near the 5300 block of Lankershim Boulevard was reported at 1:42 p.m., Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.

Rescuers were able to remove the man from under the train and take him to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The man was believed to be in cardiac arrest when transported.

How the man ended up on the tracks was unclear. Sheriff’s deputies, who police Metro bus and rail lines, are in charge of the investigation.
