Child sex sting nabs registered sex offender
SANTA ANA (CNS) – A 40-year-old registered sex offender was behind bars today for allegedly arranging to meet a 13-year-old girl, who was actually an undercover officer taking part in a child sex sting.
Kevin Kendall of Long Beach, who was arrested Friday, is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday on charges of luring of a child to commit a crime and having a prior arrest for arranging a meeting with a minor, both felonies, according to court records.
An undercover investigator posing as the girl online made contact with Kendall Aug. 21 in a teen chat room, according to Gail Krause of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
The next day, Kendall, who used the online name “Cali M,” told the “girl” that he lived in Long Beach and wanted to meet her at the Huntington Beach pier, but didn’t show up as arranged, Krause alleged.
Investigators arrested Kendall at his Claremont workplace when they linked him to the Cali M moniker, Krause said.
