FILLMORE, Calif. (AP) – A huge oak tree estimated by some to be about 500 years old has collapsed and damaged three Southern California homes.
A woman was injured slightly when the oak crashed into her bedroom while she was sleeping Monday morning. There was also damage to a storage room, a fence and the rear of a Fillmore home. A damage amount hasn’t been determined.
Residents say the oak that fell Monday morning is hundreds of years old. But fire Chief Rigo Landeros tells the Ventura County Star that the age of the tree cannot be confirmed.
The shattered trunk appeared to be rotted.
