HOUSTON (AP) – The parents of a Texas boy found in March after being kidnapped as an infant eight years ago are having weekly therapy sessions with the child in hopes of regaining custody.

A judge ordered Wednesday that 8-year-old Miguel Morin of Houston remain in foster care while the meetings with his parents continue. Another hearing was set for Jan. 9.

William Thursland, the child’s attorney, said the sessions were going well but that the boy remained cautious. Thursland said the reunification process would take time.

The parents didn’t speak in court and declined to comment after the hearing. The child’s former baby sitter and her mother remain jailed on kidnapping charges. Authorities allege the boy was kept out of school and called by a different name through the years.
