MURRIETA, Calif. (AP) – Evacuations remain in effect in Southern California where crews are trying to defeat two wildfires that have burned at least four homes and more than 1,000 acres of brushland.

Murrieta fire officials say a 150-acre blaze in Riverside County didn’t move much Sunday night and has been mainly reduced to embers. But the forecast is for hot, windy weather.

The fire is about 40 percent contained. It still poses a potential threat to as many as 200 homes after destroying a recreational vehicle and a barn.

In rural San Diego County, about 80 homes are under mandatory evacuation order because of a 1,700-acre blaze that burned four homes in the Campo area.

That fire is only 10 percent contained.
