Surgery for quarterback hurt in high school game
LOS ANGELES (AP) – A quarterback injured during a Southern California high school football game has undergone emergency brain surgery.
Wildomar Cornerstone Christian player Ryan “Dax” McGregor came off the field saying he had a problem during Friday night’s game against Avalon High School on Santa Catalina Island.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise says the 17-year-old McGregor was airlifted to UCLA-Harbor Medical Center where he underwent emergency brain surgery.
His mother, Shannon McGregor, says on a daily update on www.giveforward.com/daxmcgregorfund that he’s in critical condition and on a ventilator to help him breath. He’s heavily sedated.
Cornerstone Christian coach Bill Jarvis says coaches have not been able to tell when the injury occurred. Cornerstone Christian lost to Avalon, 64-33.
