'Replacement Google' — the lockout version
By Cyndee Maxwell, KFWB Web Producer
In a parody of the NFL referee lockout, web solution developer Erik Johnson has created a “Google” search engine that works much like the NFL replacement referees: ReplacementGoogle.com.
For example, type in “Facebook” and the returned results are for 1983 television series. Or “You Tube” returns results for “Who was the 22nd President of the United States.”
Sometimes the same search will return completely different results — much like the replacement refs.
Yesterday Johnson tweeted, “I guess Google had a big fight with their search algorithm so they’ve brought in a replacement.”
The site received just over 104,000 unique visitors yesterday, according to Johnson.
