First presidential debate nears
WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama and Republican rival Mitt Romney are preparing this weekend for their upcoming debates.
Obama has momentum on his side, yet he’s still struggling to revive the passion and excitement that propelled him to the White House in 2008. He must also convince skeptical Americans that he can restore the economy to full health.
Meanwhile, Mitt Romney is grasping for his last, best chance to reboot his campaign after a disastrous September. He needs to instill confidence that he’s a credible and trusted alternative to Obama, with a better plan for strengthening the economy. The first debate is Wednesday night in Denver.
