LOS ANGELES (CNS) – It’s not Carmageddon, but sections of the San Diego (405) Freeway will be closed at times this weekend, as well as other freeways around the Southland.
In Sherman Oaks, Caltrans crews plan to shut down the northbound 405′s transition ramps to both directions of the Ventura (101) Freeway at 6 a.m. Sunday, with the ramps to reopen at 11 that day.
In the South Bay, the big 405 widening project east of Long Beach will be wide open until Sunday night. But at about 11:59 p.m. Sunday, the entire southbound 405 will be closed between Seal Beach Boulevard and the Route 22 east interchange.
The westbound 22 Freeway will be closed at 11:59 p.m. Sunday from Valley View Street to the west, onto the northbound 405.
Also Sunday night, ramps from both the 405 north and 22 west onto the northbound San Gabriel (605) Freeway will be closed, starting at 11 p.m. All those cones should be picked up by 5 a.m. Monday.
Other freeway closures planned this weekend include Sunday morning closures of ramps on the Golden State (5) and Hollywood (101) freeways in the downtown and Boyle Heights areas, for the 10th CicLAvia Bicycle Event. Only a few ramps will be closed, and detours will be posted.
In addition, exit ramps near Staples Center will be closed from the Harbor (110) Freeway for CicLAVia early Sunday.
Construction continues on the major Golden State (10) Freeway widening projects between Glendale and Valencia, but no full freeway closures have been announced for this weekend.
