'Swatting prank' targets Justin Bieber home
CALABASAS (CNS) – A 911 prank reportedly sent deputies to singer Justin Bieber’s Calabasas home this morning.
Deputies from the Malibu/Lost Hills Station went to the 25000 block of Prado Del Grandioso on a 911 emergency call about 1:40 a.m. in response to “a possible assault,” said Nicole Nishida of the sheriff’s department.
“When deputies arrived at the location, they contacted security personnel and determined the information reported was false,” Nishida said.
Nishida declined to confirm a TMZ.com report that the residence was that of singer Justin Bieber.
According to TMZ, the caller claimed someone was waving a gun next to Bieber’s home, and the singer’s security detail allowed authorities to search the residence.
So-called “swatting” pranks — aimed at provoking a large SWAT-type police response — recently targeted Miley Cyrus and Ashton Kutcher.
