New rules pending for L.A.'s digital billboards
(CNS) – After years of legal disputes, the Los Angeles City Council is expected today to authorize city officials to enter into negotiations with two large media companies to craft new rules regarding billboards. The rules would reduce the city’s overall number of billboards.
But there would be an increase of digital billboards, which are highly lucrative, and the city would get a cut of the profits. Some activists and smaller sign companies fear the rule-drafting process will be secretive, possibly triggering a new round of lawsuits against the city.
