Details revealed in forced miscarriage case
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Prosecutors say a man charged with attempted murder surfed the Internet for ways to cause his pregnant girlfriend to miscarry before he found a drug he administered to her four times.
In a court motion filed Thursday, prosecutors say Joshua Woodward initially gave the woman the drug in pill form. When that didn’t work he administered it to her vaginally during sex.
The woman, identified only as Gail in court documents, eventually did miscarry, prosecutors say, but didn’t tell Woodward. They say she became suspicious, however, and contacted police, after which a long investigation ensued.
Woodward, who once ran upscale restaurants in Los Angeles and Miami, was charged with four counts of attempted murder. He has pleaded not guilty and is attempting to have his $4 million bail reduced.
