Affleck's 'Argo' leads weekend movies
LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Bolstered by strong reviews and positive word-of- mouth, Ben Affleck’s “Argo” topped the weekend box office, besting the debut of the star-studded, time-bending drama “Cloud Atlas,” according to final figures released today.
“Argo” collected $12.1 million between Friday and Sunday to claim the top spot at the North American box office and push its three-week total to $60.5 million, according to Hollywood.com Box Office.

A pair of horror/thrillers also placed in the top five: “Paranormal Activity 4″ earned $8.5 million over the weekend, while “Silent Hill: Revelation” debuted in fifth place with $8 million.
Rounding out the top 10 films of the weekend were “Taken 2″ ($7.7 million); “Here Comes the Boom” ($5.2 million); “Alex Cross” ($5.1 million); “Sinister” ($5 million); and “Fun Size” ($4.1 million).
