Video game helps kids control rage

BOSTON (AP) – A study of kids with serious anger problems finds they can control it with the help of a video game.

Boston Children’s Hospital had children with anger control issues play a video game that involved shooting enemy spaceships while avoiding hitting the friendly ones. A finger monitor tracked their heart rate and put it on the screen.

If the heart rate got above a certain level, players could not shoot enemies. To improve the game, they had to learn to calm down.

The study found the kids were better at keeping their heart rate down after five sessions. The hospital is continuing with similar studies.
