NEW YORK (AP) – The head of the power company that serves New York’s Long Island says he understands the “frustration,” as tens of thousands of homes and businesses are still without power, two weeks after Superstorm Sandy.

Michael Hervey says the storm was worse than expected, and that no utility had as many workers in place ahead of time as it would have liked.

The has lagged behind others in restoring power after Sandy and the snowstorm the following week.

Nearly 67,000 homes and businesses served by Long Island Power Authority were still without electricity as of last night.
