CAIRO (AP) – Egypt’s Health Ministry says more than 120 people have been wounded in clashes involving supporters and opponents of President Mohammed Morsi today.

The two sides fought with rocks, firebombs and sticks outside the presidential palace. It’s the worst violence so far in the deepening crisis over the country’s draft constitution, which was approved by Morsi’s Islamist allies.

The clashes continued well into the night.

Meanwhile, three more of Morsi’s aides have resigned in protest over his handling of the crisis. There are now five advisers from his panel of 17 who have left their jobs since the problems began.

The opposition is demanding that Morsi scrap the decrees he issued that give him nearly unrestricted powers. They also want him to shelve the disputed draft constitution.

Today’s clashes began when thousands of Islamist supporters of Morsi descended on an area around the palace where hundreds of his opponents had been staging a sit-in.
