2013 Mayor’s Race
Now that voters in Los Angeles have cast their ballots in the primary for mayor, the top two contenders are preparing to meet in a runoff election on May 21.
Mayors of the City of Los Angeles serve four-year terms, according to the city’s charter. The new mayor will take office on June 30, 2013.

City Councilman Eric Garcetti and city Controller Wendy Greuel set up a contest of two Democrats who occupy a lot of similar positions in an election to determine who will lead the nation’s second most populous city that’s troubled by double-digit unemployment and a looming budget gap.
