Runners in nighttime marathon hit the streets of downtown L.A.
LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Unusual night distance races will wind through downtown Los Angeles Saturday night. The first “New Year’s Race – Los Angeles At Night” features a half- marathon, a 5K race and a kids’ fun run.
The race begins at 9 p.m. at Seventh Street and Grand Avenue. Street closures include portions of Figueroa, Seventh, 11th, Main and Los Angeles streets and Broadway, Sunset Boulevard and Stadium Way. The course winds its way past Staples Center, the Fashion District, the Broadway shopping district, City Hall, Chinatown and Dodger Stadium.
The field is limited to 10,000 runners, according to the race website. Also included is a health and fitness expo at the Biltmore Hotel and a beer garden at Staples Center.
