SWAT standoff after man fires weapon in home
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Negotiators and a special weapons team involved in a more than six-hour standoff have been unable to convince an armed despondent man to come out of an East Los Angeles home.
Nearby homes are evacuated.
The Sheriff’s Department got a call from a woman at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday saying her adult son was despondent and fired a weapon inside the home during an argument.
No one was hurt.
A deputy says a department SWAT team surrounding the home and deputies can see the man walking around in an upstairs area.
At 8 a.m., a deputy says the man still refuses to come out.
