Calif teen parents suspected of cruelty to infant
APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — Two teenage parents have been arrested on suspicion of child abuse after their 5-month-old girl was taken to a Southern California hospital with broken bones and weighed just 9 pounds.
San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials said the infant suffered fractured ribs and limbs and was malnourished and dehydrated when she was brought to the hospital in Apple Valley on Thursday.
Her 16-year-old mother was booked into a juvenile detention center for investigation of child abuse and willful cruelty to a child.
Her 18-year-old father, Daniel William Wescott, was booked into jail for investigation of the same offenses.
His bail was set at $100,000.
