Human remains found near LA-area forest grave
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities have found human remains in a Los Angeles-area forest, days after hikers found a shallow grave nearby.
The San Gabriel Valley Tribune says sheriff’s investigators found the remains on Saturday in the Angeles National Forest near the foothill community of Sunland.
Other details haven’t been released.
The remains were found about quarter-mile away from where hikers on Jan. 8 discovered a 5-foot-long hole.
Homicide detectives and coroner’s officials searched the grave site and found what appeared to be blood traces and a plastic bag of animal remains.
Authorities say they may have been used in some sort of ritual.
