LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles County authorities say a woman has been charged with assault for allegedly attacking a 12-year-old girl who had shown up to fight her daughter.
Prosecutors say 33-year-old Amber Gutierrez was charged Wednesday with assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury. She remains jailed on $100,000 bail and faces up to seven years in prison if convicted.
Police say the woman’s sixth-grade daughter showed up in a San Pedro alley last week for an after-school fight but took along her mother and aunt.
A cellphone video allegedly recorded all three grabbing or punching the 12-year-old.
Gutierrez surrendered Tuesday after the video was posted online.
The girl and her aunt are being sought.
