A rule of thumb in football: better not to even get to the Super Bowl than to go and lose. That’s the team that has to live with the shame for a year.

But San Francisco 49er fans have more reason to be optimistic than most. And that’s because of their young quarterback, Colin Kaepernick. Yeah, his inexperience showed at critical times. But the ‘Niners wouldn’t have even been in it if he hadn’t been so dazzling. And most of the young guns at QB in the NFL get to a training camp and a pre-season to get their feet wet as starters. The Super Bowl was only his 10th start in the league.

He passed for 300 yards and a touchdown, ran for another TD, and almost single-handily won the game on sheer talent. Add the moxie of experience  and he could be downright scary.

But, Colin, babe; lose that habit of kissing your biceps after a touchdown. Just sayin’.
