Today on Business Rockstars, Ken Rutkowski talks with supermodel and businesswoman, Cheryl Tiegs. With her signature line of clothing and accessories for Sears, Cheryl Tiegs has sold nearly a billion dollars of merchandise.
Cheryl Tiegs was born in Minnesota and lived on a farm until the age of 5 when she moved to Los Angeles with her parents. The teenaged Cheryl was cast in a handful of television commercials. The exposure landed her on the cover of Glamour magazine. Tiegs eventually scored covers with high profile magazines like Vogue and Elle. However, it was the 1978 swimsuit issue of Sports Illustrated that led to her contract with Cover Girl. Cheryl was the first supermodel to venture into the retail world by creating her own line of clothing for Sears. The Cheryl Tiegs Line sold over a billion dollars in merchandise in its 10 year span. Her career includes being on the cover of Time Magazine three times, Sports Illustrated three times and People Magazine four times.
