Car driven by burglary suspect pursued through LA
LOS ANGELES (AP) — California Highway Patrol units and Los Angeles police have stopped a vehicle wanted in connection to a burglary after the driver led authorities on an hour-long, high-speed chase through downtown residential neighborhoods.
Helicopter footage from KNBC-TV showed two LAPD officers and one CHP officer tackling the female driver in South Los Angeles about an hour after the chase began Friday.
The vehicle blew out a tire after being hit by a patrol car. The driver and two passengers are in custody.
The vehicle flew through stop signs and signals without pause, veering around vehicles and pedestrians who ran to get out of the way.
County sheriff’s Capt. Mike Parker says authorities in Duarte spotted the car wanted in a late-morning robbery and began the pursuit.
