GORGEOUS weather this weekend so let’s take advantage of it and get outdoors.
I have two ideas for you:
First, Saturday at 9 a.m. join your fellow citizens for a clean up day as part of a beautification effort to clean the city’s historic public staircases stretching through the Silver Lake and Los Feliz areas. Meet at the top of Radio Walk at Franklin Avenue and Radio Street, in the Franklin Hills area. Contact: Scott Levin-Gesundheit at Tom LaBonge’s office (213) 473-2344, or cell at (323) 706-2396.
If you love whales you might want to head South to Dana Point for the 42nd annual Dana Point Festival of Whales, a celebration of the annual migration of California gray whales from Alaska to Baja California. The festival gets underway at 10 a.m.
It will begin with a parade and feature art exhibits, live music, the Seashore Interpretive Family Hike, whale watching, a screening of the film “Flipper” and marine mammal lectures.
Nearly 100,000 people are expected to attend the festival, which will continue on Saturdays and Sundays through March 10. to find out more Contact: Penny Elia at (949) 499-4499.
