Today on Business Rockstars, Ken Rutkowski talks with Jonathan Carp, an entrepreneur who has sold millions of packages of his Miracle Noodle – a calorie free, carb free noodle. Also on the show, Jeff Smith, CEO of JS2 Communications, will discuss corporate branding.
Jonathan Carp has started businesses since he was a teenager. He started selling innovative beach towels as a teenager and along the way has founded several information marketing businesses online since 2003. In 2006 after a life changing trip to Japan he started Miracle Noodle, a calorie free, carb free noodle. Since Westernizing this traditional Japanese food, Miracle Noodle has sold millions of packages and the noodles have been featured on Extra, Dr. Oz and Racheal Ray. Miracle Noodles have also been featured in celebrity cookbooks like those of Rocco Dispirito and in major magazines like Cosmo, Men’s Health, and Shape.
Carp has a unique marketing philosophy that mixes direct response marketing techniques to create both brand awareness for retail and direct sales though online marketing techniques. He has done this all the while still practicing medicine as a dermatologist. He is passionate about small business entrepreneurship and supports Kiva.org where Miracle Noodle’s lending team has made over 1000 small business loans and the Acumen Fund which fosters small business entrepreneurship as a tool for economic growth and development. He also acts as a online marketing consultant for business who want to connect and sell direct to consumer.
Jeff Smith’s extensive experience in corporate branding, crisis communications and communications strategies makes him a leading figure in the industry for helping companies achieve their corporate goals and then solidifying their niche. He has worked with some of the country’s best known consumer brands including Starbucks Coffee Company, Jamba Juice, ArcLight Cinemas and Evite Postmark and has been a key principal in developing, launching and publicizing exceptionally well-known and successful products.
As CEO of JS2 Communications, Smith develops long-term goals for the company within a framework of consistent daily performance objectives. He is active on the day-to-day operations of managing company growth, providing senior strategic counsel to the account staff and overseeing marketing, human resources and accounting practices. Smith also works closely with President and co-founder Jill Sandin in managing new business development.
Smith was co-founder of the Los Angeles and San Francisco offices of New York-based public relations and marketing communications firm Kratz & Company (later Kratz & Jensen). His tenure in that capacity provided Smith excellent experience in consumer product positioning for the areas of television, music, celebrity representation, licensing and convergence issues. He also expanded his skills in fashion, food and beverage and non-profit/philanthropic brand strategy while working with many consumer powerhouse brands, from Disney to IBM.
