Experience LA with Maggie McKay: Wildflowers
By Maggie McKay, KFWB news anchor
Spring has sprung and it’s time to take advantage of nature events that only come around once a year. The wildflowers are one of those phenomenal things to experience.
Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. in Newhall at Towsley Canyon is one place. But if you want to take a road trip and head south, each spring in the months of March and April, 50+ acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers are in bloom in the colorful fields of Carlsbad.
The Carlsbad Flower Fields located near the Carlsbad shopping outlet and Legoland kids’ amusement park is comprised of 50 acres of flowers that grace the hillsides overlooking the Pacific Ocean. For a small fee visitors can enjoy wandering through the fields and getting a close-up view of the growth. There is also a special nursery, garden, and gift shop by Armstrong Garden Centers, and festivals throughout the season.
Located in Carlsbad east of Interstate 5 off Palomar Airport Road at 5704 Paseo Del Norte, Carlsbad, CA 92008. For more info call (760) 431-0352 or go online: theflowerfields.com.
