SoCal’s champion teams at the White House
It was a big day at the White House for SoCal sports yesterday. President Obama took the time to salute a pair of L.A. champions.
The players from hockey’s Stanley Cup champions, the Kings, and the Galaxy – who won their second straight championship in Major League Soccer – were all at the White House for the ceremony.
Afterwards, a number of the players talked to some Washington School kids about fitness as part of First Lady Michelle Obama’s program to promote exercise and healthy eating.
One youngster asked Dustin Brown of the Kings if he had ever been in a fight. Dustin fidgeted a bit then said, “I have. It happens.”
But then the director of the program, Assistant White House Chef Sam Kass, quickly added, “But they regret every second of it.”
That’s their story and they’re sticking to it.
