LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angles fire officials say six boys got stuck on a precarious hillside while hiking and had to be hoisted out by helicopter.

City fire spokesman Erik Scott says the boys were reported stranded in Veterans Memorial Park near the edge of the Angeles National Forest at about 6:45 p.m. Sunday, about a half-hour before sunset.

Firefighters quickly found the boys, and a paramedic was lowered from a helicopter to check on them. None were injured.

Scott says the helicopter then hoisted the boys out and took them to a fire truck that was waiting in a nearby parking lot.

He says firefighters had to respond to two other incidents in virtually the same spot in the last two weeks, and urged hikers to remain on trails.
