OK music lovers, the weather’s great to head out on a road trip to the desert and catch the annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival going on this weekend and next. Performances by legendary acts and indie up-and-comers alike, you can even camp there if you want.

The Stone Roses, Blur, Phoenix and the Red Hot Chili Peppers headline this year’s event, held in Indio. $349 for each three-day weekend pass. Camping pass is $85. Empire Polo Field, 81–800 Avenue 51, Indio, (800) 745-3000.

Closer to home, beginning Sunday and continuing through September 2, see more than 53 butterfly species and an array of plants in this outdoor exhibit. The Butterfly Pavilion showcases the fascinating dance between butterflies, moths, and the plants that surround them. See up close how butterflies use their tubular mouthparts to obtain nectar and witness caterpillars feed on leaves and go through the process of their transformation into adults, and much, much, more.

The Butterfly Pavillion is  right next to USC at 900 Exposition Blvd., (213) 763-3466. For more info go to
