Here are the news maker interviews you missed (or want to hear again) from this morning’s edition of LA’s Morning News with Penny Griego and Phil Hulett.

5:12 a.m. – AP Correspondent Warren Levinson is in Boston where investigators say they have a breakthrough in the search for a suspect in the Marathon Bombings.

6:00 a.m. – Associated Press video reporter John Mone checked in from West, Texas to describe the destruction caused by a massive explosion at a fertilizer plant.

6:52 a.m. – The Senate blocked a bi-partisan proposal to expand background checks on gun purchases as well as bans on certain assault-type weapons. President Obama reacts angrily.  NBC Washington Correspondent Bob Costantini brought Penny and Phil up to speed on what happened, the reaction, and what’s next.

8:30 a.m. – Former MLB player and manager, now NBC Sports Radio Analyst,  Bobby Valentine joined Penny and Phil live to talk a little baseball; specifically, what’s wrong with the Dodgers and the Angels, advice for their managers, and what his response would be if a team called him up to manage again.
