If you’re looking for something to completely take your mind off “real life,” I’ve got JUST the thing……the  Pasadena Doo Dah Parade!

The eccentric alter-ego to the Tournament of Roses Parade was named by Readers Digest as “America’s Best Parade,” and was featured in the book 50 Places You Must Visit Before You Die! It happens Saturday, April 27 at 11 a.m. on Colorado Blvd. (between Altadena and San Gabriel Blvds.) in Pasadena. pasadenadoodahparade.info

I’ve never been to the Doo Dah Parade but I have been to Traces and I can’t wait to go back again. It’s this weekend, April 26-28 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion.

It fuses the energy of street performance with the traditions of circus. The artists of Traces employ music, dance, illustration, skateboarding, basketball and acrobatics to fashion what could be thought of as a spectacular anti-spectacle.

The performers, members of the Montreal-based troupe 7 Fingers, appear to be nothing more than a group of friends, easygoing and potentially clumsy—until they unleash 90 minutes of unbridled energy. Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, 135 N. Grand Ave., downtown, 213-972-7211. musiccenter.org.

And of course…..there’s always the beach…perfect weather for it!
