SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — Orange County’s district attorney says he’ll fight prostitution by naming and shaming johns.
The Orange County Register says DA Tony Rackauckas announced last week that he plans to begin publicizing the names of people convicted of buying sex.
He didn’t indicate how much information would be published or when the policy will take effect.
Buying sex typically is a misdemeanor but Rackauckas says prostitution is an increasing problem. In 2011, 223 men were arrested on suspicion of buying, selling or arranging sex.
