It’s one thing if you’re a Lakers fan. They struggled all season. No real shock they were gone after the first round.
The best scenario what Kings fans went through last season; not really believing your team has a chance so it’s a fairy tale ride to a title.
But a week ago at this time, the Clippers had gone up two games to none thanks to a brilliant play by Chris Paul. There was already speculation about taking on Oklahoma City in the second round.
Even after the game 3 loss in Memphis, there was plenty of optimism. But two more losses in four days; one loss away from elimination; having to play Friday night in front of the rabid fans in Memphis — talk about a huge emotional speed bump!!
And to dampen enthusiasm even more, if that’s possible, Blake Griffin not only suffers a badly sprained ankle, but he does it in practice the day BEFORE game five. And let’s be honest. The Clippers have not exactly had a rich history of overcoming adversity for the faithful to fall back on.
At least it would be a real thrill if they defy expectations and win. But understand why we may wait to get real fired up about that possibility for a day or two.
