Fisher-Price eliminating 100 NY jobs; reassigning to El Segundo
EAST AURORA, N.Y. (AP) — Toy maker Fisher-Price says it’s moving or eliminating roughly 100 jobs from its New York operations.
The company says Wednesday that a majority of affected jobs will be reassigned to parent company Mattel Inc.’s El Segundo, Calif. headquarters. They also include an unspecified number of layoffs at Fisher-Price’s East Aurora headquarters and offices in New York City.
Fisher-Price spokeswoman Brenda Andolina says employees in reassigned positions can move with their jobs to southern California. She says the toy design and development operations at the 900-employee East Aurora campus will remain intact.
The moves are part of a reorganization undertaken by Mattel last year that included creation of a North America Division to work more closely with retailers in the United States and Canada.
