Gold Ball Mystery Bag event at Angel Stadium on Saturday
On Saturday June 1, the Angels and Special Olympics Southern California will host the third annual “Gold Ball Mystery Bag” event at Angel Stadium at the Home Plate Gate hats beginning at 5pm through the second inning.
The Angels’ wives and Special Olympics athletes will sell the $40 mystery bags while supplies last. Each bag contains a baseball autographed by an Angels player or coach. Twelve lucky fans who find their autographed baseball wrapped in gold paper will win four tickets to an upcoming game and a chance to meet the Angels player who signed their ball during batting practice. Fans can also purchase $5 raffle tickets or five tickets for $20 to win other autographed items.
The event is being led by Kristin Weaver, wife of Angels’ ace Jered Weaver. Kristin worked in Special Education post-college while Jered became a Special Olympics Ambassador prior to the 2010 season. They annually attend local Special Olympics events together.
There is a two bag limit per person and proceeds from the event will benefit Special Olympics, Southern California and the Angels Baseball Foundation.
Special Olympics Southern California offers opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities to participate in year-round sports training and competition.
